Hold onto your hats, folks! The Alamo, Texas’s premier tourist destination, is about to catapult you into the past like never before. We're thrilled to announce the launch of Surrounded! The Alamo Augmented Experience, on Friday, September 6th. It is a groundbreaking augmented reality journey that will bring the Alamo’s 300-year history to life in vivid, jaw-dropping detail. This cutting-edge experience, presented by Frost, The Official Bank of the Alamo, is set to revolutionize how we engage with history.
Imagine standing in the very footsteps of the Alamo's storied past. Developed by Histovery, you can now witness the epic saga of the Alamo through the eyes of those who lived it. From Native Americans and Spanish friars in the 18th century to the heroic defenders of the Battle of the Alamo, each moment is vividly recreated with stunning augmented reality on handheld tablets. The experience includes interactive characters, immersive clips, and 360-degree animations that bring the history of the Alamo to life like never before.
Histovery is a French company based in Paris, specializing in augmented reality solutions for cultural sites and museums. Founded in 2006, Histovery is making its first permanent mark in the U.S. with this project, having already enhanced visitor experiences at other UNESCO World Heritage sites like Notre-Dame de Paris.
"Our partnership with Frost and Histovery marks a thrilling new chapter in how we tell the Alamo's story," said Dr. Kate Rogers, Executive Director of the Alamo Trust, Inc. "This is history like you’ve never seen it before, and it’s just a taste of what’s to come as we continue to progress with the $550 million Alamo Plan."
Here's a sneak peek at the immersive portals you'll explore in "Surrounded! The Alamo Augmented Experience":

- Fort/Hospital – 1813: Experience the first hospital with the Alamo Company.
