On January 8, 1815, the United States victory over the British at the Battle of New Orleans symbolized American democracy triumphing over European ideas of aristocracy and entitlement. This battle had a significant impact on Texas history by freeing Americans to expand westward, setting the stage for the annexation of Texas.

Learn more at an exclusive, after-hours experience in the Alamo Living History Encampment led by Ernesto Rodriguez, our distinguished historian who is celebrating 25 years of service to the Alamo. Enjoy conversations and storytelling on the Battle of New Orleans and its significance on Texas history as we gather around the campfire with coffee, hot chocolate, and s'mores. Bring your blanket and join us for this family friendly event!
