David Crockett was born on August 17, 1786. He was a frontiersman, justice of the peace, congressman, militia man, author, and Alamo Defender. Throughout his life, Crockett became a legendary figure in American popular culture. He was the most famous American that was not president and was a legend during his lifetime.
He died defending the Alamo on March 6, 1836 and has continued to be a popular figure in American History, having books, television shows, movies and other items created telling his story.
