San Antonio occupies a unique place in Texas geography, situated at the confluence of at least four distinct geographic regions. People have lived here for thousands of years, and their lives were framed by their unique relationship with the land they called home. The people who lived in San Antonio referred to the river as Yanaguana, meaning refreshing waters, but San Antonio was a crossroads for many of the indigenous communities that lived in Texas prior to colonization by Europeans.

  • Participate in a walking tour with the Alamo Education Team
  • Hear from an expert about the native peoples that lived in and traveled through the area
  • Learn about what discoveries have been made about the first peoples of San Antonio and their environment

Teachers receive a 6 CPE certificate upon participation. There is a one-hour break for lunch on your own.
