The Alamo is proud to announce the Construction Kickoff Ceremony of the highly anticipated Alamo Visitor Center and Museum. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 10:00 AM in front of the historic Alamo Church and is open to the public.
Special guests for this momentous occasion include Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, General Land Office Commissioner Dr. Dawn Buckingham, Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, and Alamo Trust, Inc. Executive Director Dr. Kate Rogers.
Adding to the day's excitement, Fort Sam’s Own” 323d Army Band Brass Quintet will perform, bringing their renowned musical talent to the celebration and setting a patriotic tone as we commemorate this significant milestone in Texas history.
The new Alamo Visitor Center and Museum, part of the $550 million Alamo Plan, will be a world-class facility preserving the Alamo’s 300-year history. The museum will deepen public understanding of the Alamo through eight immersive galleries and a state-of-the-art 4D theater, from its early Indigenous inhabitants to the Texas Revolution and beyond. Scheduled for completion in 2027, the facility will enhance the visitor experience for Texas's premiere tourist destination, contributing to the cultural and economic growth of San Antonio.
