The Alamo is joining forces with Bohanan's Prime Steaks and Seafood to host Weapons & Whiskey, a frontier fundraiser promising an evening rich in history, lore, and fine food and whiskey.
The event will take place at Bohanan's, a short walk down Houston Street from the Alamo, on Thursday, November 14, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Guests will have the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the weapons used by James Bowie, David Crockett, and other brave Alamo Defenders while tasting whiskey and enjoying light bites at Bohanan's. The Alamo's historical research and curation team will present a collection of weapons from the Battle of the Alamo and recount tales from the epic battle.
In the 1800s, Americans drank whiskey like water. It sold for twenty-five cents a gallon, making it cheaper than beer, wine, coffee, tea, or milk. Weapons & Whiskey guests will enjoy handcrafted whiskey cocktails and whiskey tastings from an array of Texas distilleries, including two located just steps from the Alamo: Devils River and Maverick Distillery.
Tickets can be purchased online, and cost $100 for adults and $90 for Friends of the Alamo members. Guests must be age 21 or older to attend. All proceeds benefit the Remember the Alamo Foundation, a nonprofit that provides support exclusively for the Alamo and its preservation, educational outreach, and public programs.
