Join us in honoring the valor and sacrifice of the Alamo Defenders at the 189th Commemoration of the Battle of the Alamo. This year marks a particularly poignant milestone—one year for each of the 189 known defenders who gave their lives for Texas independence. Events will be running from February 22 to March 6, 2025. This year’s commemoration features a series of events designed to bring to life the enduring legacy of the Alamo through ceremonies, reenactments, and special programming.
Evening with Heroes (Ticketed Event) - February 22
Experience the Alamo after hours. Our 17th annual Evening With Heroes offers a guided, candlelit tour through historical scenarios, immersing you in the night before the final attack.
Location: Meet at the Alamo Welcome Center, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Fandango at the Alamo (Free Event) - February 23
Enjoy live music, dancing, and family activities at the newly re-opened Plaza de Valero. Grab a bite to eat from a local food truck and have a picnic on the lawn. Picnic blankets, lawn chairs and coolers are welcome, but alcohol and glass bottles are not permitted.
Location: Plaza de Valero, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Alamo Statewide Stampede Campaign Launch and Travis Letter Reading (Free Event) - February 24
The Alamo will commemorate the 189th anniversary of Lieutenant-Colonel William Barret Travis’ legendary "Victory or Death" letter, celebrating the grand reopening for the newly opened Plaza de Valero and the launch of the Alamo Statewide Stampede Campaign. The ceremony will begin with the reading of Travis’ iconic letter by a special guest, symbolizing the enduring call for unity and support in safeguarding Texas’ most historic site.

Revolution Continues: Fireside Chat (Member Only Event) - February 27
We invite all Friends of the Alamo members to an exclusive, members only after-hours experience in the Living History Encampment. Join us for a fireside chat on the Texas Revolution the Battle of Bexar to the runaway scrape with Ernesto Rodriguez, our distinguished historian who recently celebrated 25 years of service to the Alamo, and Dr. Bruce Winders, former Alamo Director of History and Curator.

The Immortal 32 Arrive! (Free Event) - March 1
Honor the brave 32 men from Gonzales who reinforced the Alamo Defenders. Special guests include the Mayor of Gonzales and descendants of these heroes.

Texas Independence Day Celebration (Free Event) - March 2
Did you know that Texas was its own country for almost ten years? Come celebrate Texas Independence—declared on March 2, 1836—at the Alamo, with music and living history demonstrations throughout the day.

Dawn at the Alamo (Free Event) - March 6
Join us for a solemn tribute to the Alamo Defenders. This ceremony, complete with readings, music, and a musket volley, honors their ultimate sacrifice.
Location: Alamo Plaza, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
