The Remember the Alamo Foundation is proud to announce its collaboration with Boeing to enhance STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) education at the Alamo. Through Boeing’s generous support, the Alamo is introducing the "Teach the Alamo: STEAM presented by Boeing" program, which includes the development of hands-on STEAM kits designed to bring history to life for educators and students across the region.

As part of this initiative, the Alamo recently hosted a professional development workshop on February 8, 2025, at the Witte Museum. The event was a resounding success, bringing together educators from across Texas for a day of interactive labs, guest speakers, and innovative teaching tools. The event included remarks from Richard Delgado, Jr., from Boeing’s Global Engagement Office, highlighted Boeing’s commitment to fostering curiosity and learning through this program.

“STEM education is more important now than ever,” said Richard Delgado, Jr., Boeing Global Engagement Community Investor for South Texas. “It equips students with critical thinking skills, fosters creativity, and prepares them for the challenges of the future. With the rapid advancements in technology and the increasing demand for skilled professionals in STEM fields, we must ensure that our students are not just consumers of technology, but also creators and innovators.”

During the event, the Alamo distributed approximately 160 STEAM kits to educators, reaching an estimated 4,000 students. Teachers traveled from across the state to participate, including representatives from the Dallas and Tyler areas. These kits offer hands-on learning experiences, helping students connect with history through engaging STEAM-focused activities.

Following the workshop, the Alamo will continue to facilitate these lessons and distribute additional STEAM kits to schools that request them, ensuring even greater reach and impact across Texas classrooms.

The “Teach the Alamo: STEAM” program represents a key component of the Alamo’s expanding educational efforts. The future Texas Cavaliers Education Center, scheduled to open in late 2025, will feature a state-of-the-art STEAM Lab offering programs such as guided Learning Labs, self-guided activities, and challenge quests. Boeing’s support is enabling the development of STEAM kits that will allow educators to engage students in Alamo-themed experiments and activities both in classrooms and through distance learning.

“STEAM education has not always been a visible feature of historic sites, but the Alamo is proud to lead the way in this area,” said Dr. Kate Rogers, Executive Director of the Alamo Trust, Inc. “Thanks to Boeing’s partnership, we are providing educators and students with new ways to engage with history and inspire innovation.”

The Alamo is dedicated to integrating STEAM education into its programming, with a state-of-the-art STEAM laboratory set to open in 2026 as part of the Texas Cavaliers Education Center at the historic site. This innovative space will provide future generations with meaningful opportunities to connect with history through hands-on learning and exploration.
