The Remember the Alamo Foundation is delighted to announce a generous contribution of $5 million from the esteemed Mays Family Foundation. In tribute to this significant donation, the Alamo's Visitor Center and Museum's Long-Term Legacy Gallery will be named the Mays Family Legacy Gallery. The state-of-the-art Alamo Visitor Center and Museum is slated to open its doors in 2027.

The Mays Family Legacy Gallery is crafted as a space where visitors can delve into the intricate melding of history and pop culture associated with the Alamo. Inside the gallery, guests will discover the Alamo's representations in film, literature, art, and other diverse mediums. Through these, attendees will gain insights into the Alamo's evolving story within popular culture, recognizing its deep-rooted significance in the global cultural narrative.

"As eighth-generation Texans, our family's roots run deep in the heart of Texas, tracing back to William Roebuck. His son, James Mandred Roebuck, was a testament to our family's enduring commitment to this state, having received a land grant for his military service to the Republic of Texas in 1838", said Kathy Mays Johnson. "With this legacy in mind, we are profoundly honored to support the Remember the Alamo Foundation. This contribution is a tribute to our ancestors and a commitment to preserving the rich tapestry of Texas history. The Mays Family Legacy Gallery is more than just a space; it's a continuation of our family's story intertwined with the Lone Star State's enduring legacy. We hope it serves as a beacon of learning and inspiration, ensuring that the spirit of Texas' past remains a vibrant and guiding force for future generations."

"We are immensely thankful to the Mays Family Foundation for their support and generosity", said Dr. Kate Rogers, Executive Director of the Alamo Trust, Inc. "Their contribution is pivotal in ensuring that the Alamo's story continues to resonate, enlightening and inspiring a diverse audience for years to come. This generous donation will aid in bringing the rich history of the Alamo to life, allowing its significance to be appreciated by all who visit."
