Ryan Berg is the Co-President and Owner of Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry. His career brought him to San Antonio in 2010 when Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry, his family business, founded by his father, Lee Michael Berg in 1978, required his active direction of its burgeoning San Antonio market. Thrilled with the opportunity to enjoy the rich history, strong sense of community identity, and growing diversity of the San Antonio community, Ryan moved his family from New Orleans, Louisiana to serve as Market President for Texas. Currently there are ten stores in seven markets in four states: Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and New Mexico for which Ryan now serves as Owner and Co-President and a member of the company’s Executive Committee with his two brothers, developing rich history in each of the communities it serves.
Ryan has a genuine enthusiasm for volunteer activism, which comes naturally and reinforces the company’s culture of giving back. Continuing his passion for community involvement, Ryan is currently active in the San Antonio area, serving as Vice Chair of the Christus Santa Rosa Friends Foundation. In the past, Ryan has served as past chair of the Witte Museum of Natural History, American Cancer Society in Austin, San Antonio, and South Texas, and the Witte Game Dinner Chair in 2018. He has also served as a past member of the Downtown San Antonio Rotary, Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) past president, Town Club member and a graduate of the FBI Citizens Organization. Upon moving to San Antonio, Ryan quickly became involved with the American Cancer Society Cattle Barons Gala. In 2015, Ryan was able to partner with the American Cancer Society to help create the Baron's Award, an award which recognizes individuals, businesses, and volunteers within the San Antonio community that are actively involved with the American Cancer Society. His vision implemented a plan for recognizing the support and contributions to the mission to “lead the fight for a world without cancer”. Other organizations supported by Ryan include the Forum Gala in support of Texas Bio-Med, Junior Achievement, McNay Art Museum, Children’s Bereavement Center of San Antonio, Greater Heights Night, and many more.
Ryan's formal education includes a BS in Business from Washington and Jefferson College (Pennsylvania). His professional credits include graduate of New Orleans Regional Leadership (NORLI), 2012 graduate of Leadership San Antonio (LSA), American Gem Society (AGS) Certified Gemologist, and Graduate Gemologist of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). It was in New York where Ryan and Jessica met and eventually married in 2000. They have two sons, Zachary (22) and Adam (18). Zach, is attending Trinity University in San Antonio as a junior and Adam is a senior at Saint Mary’s Hall.
Ryan’s engagement in several of the jewelry industry’s diverse organizations further demonstrates his enthusiasm for creating and sustaining positive change. Currently he serves on the board of American Gem Society (AGS). He served as past President of the Jewelers of Louisiana and past Advisory Board Member of Jewelers Mutual Insurance. He previously served as past board chair for Jewelers of America which is the largest trade organization for the jewelry industry.
Ryan, Jess, Zach, and Adam, have readily felt very much at home in the San Antonio community. They expect many years of actively supporting initiatives that showcase San Antonio as a wonderful place to rear a family, enhance the community environment, and grow a successful business.
