Coronavirus Precautions

The coronavirus (COVID-19) is a new virus that causes respiratory disease. As always, the health and safety of our visitors, staff, and volunteers is the single most important consideration for The Alamo. We are consistently monitoring announcements by officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), State and City of San Antonio about the current coronavirus outbreak in the United States and the potential need for taking more aggressive measures to contain it.  In addition to our usual stringent cleaning and health practices, we are following the steps issued by the CDC to help reduce the spread of the disease.

Follow these recommended preventative actions from the CDC to help prevent the spread of the virus.

The Alamo has no plans to close at this time, however, we will take all precautions necessary to protect visitors, staff, and volunteers. We will continue to monitor the spread of the virus, consult with state and local health experts, and make the most informed decision possible at that time. If we are directed to close by city or state ordinance, we will follow that direction.

Face Mask Required

For the health and safety of all visitors, The Alamo requires all visitors over the age of 10 to wear a mask upon entry onto the complex. If visitors arrive without a mask, Alamo staff will offer disposable face mask free of charge at the Welcome Center. Children 2-10 are strongly recommended to wear a mask, but are not required.

Medical Condition Accommodations

A Medical Condition Entry Only timed ticket slot will be reserved daily for all visitors who have medical conditions preventing them from wearing a face mask. This is to ensure that all guest can visit the site safely, especially those that self-identify as high risk.

The Medical Condition Entry Only time slot will be conducted at 5:00pm daily unless otherwise posted. Visitors with medical conditions may reserve their timed entry ticket at the Alamo Welcome Center or call the Tour Program Coordinator (210-225-1391 x4005) to reserve tickets in advance. Visitors with these tickets will be allowed to enter the grounds 15 minutes before their reserved entry time.

Peace of Mind Policy

We want you to feel as comfortable as possible when booking your visit. Any tours that have not been used will be refunded up to 24 hours before the time of the tour, through the email confirmation you received when booking the tour.
