Construction to eliminate the curbs in front of the Alamo Church will be completed by the end of this week. The construction began in early October, with the goal of completing the project before Thanksgiving. A week ahead of schedule, most of the fencing seen in front of the Church in Alamo Plaza today will be removed.
The curbs have been sloped to a lower elevation to improve accessibility and reduce tripping hazards for visitors. There will be a small portion of fencing in front of the Church next week to install handrails to make these new sloped areas even more accessible, to protect visitors as the installation will require welding. The handrail installation will be finished by Thanksgiving, so visitors can expect a fence-free view of the Alamo Church in time for the holidays.
