Join the Alamo for an exploration of the cannons and artillery of the Texas Revolution!
Cannon Fest will include artillery displays, interactive drills, and living history demonstrations for all ages on the Alamo grounds.
In addition to the Alamo’s seven 1836 battle cannons, visitors will also enjoy a special appearance by the 4-pound bronze cannon, one of 13 cannons unearthed in 1852 in downtown San Antonio.
The celebration will conclude with Come and Take It day on Monday, Oct. 2, at 3:30 p.m., with a special announcement about restoration efforts.
Remember the Alamo and the artillery of the Texas Revolution at Cannon Fest, Saturday, Sept. 30 – Monday, Oct. 2.

Saturday & Sunday schedule of events:

11 a.m. & 2 p.m.: Live cannon firing demos in the encampment
9 a.m. - noon & 1 - 4 p.m.:
Station #1 : The Cannons of the Texas Revolution
According to the commander, the Texans had 24 cannons during the historic 1836 battle. Find out what happened to them after the Texas Revolution, and how they ended up back at the Alamo.
Station #2 : Cannon Crew Drill Demonstrations
How many soldiers are needed to fire a cannon? This demonstration may surprise you! Watch as the team moves carefully but quickly to prepare the gun for another volley.
Station #3 : Kid’s Cannon Crew Drills
Kids of all ages are welcome to join an artillery crew. From powder monkey to the #1 Cannoneer, every position is vital to the successful firing of a cannon. Come and get in on the action!
Station #4 : How to Load & Fire a Cannon
Most people know that an explosion is involved in the firing of a cannon, but do you know the many uses of a cannon in warfare? This station will explain the multiple uses of artillery and types of ammunition.
